A Note to Lion Owners
Part of the legacy of each lion is the fact that every single lion has belonged to someone who understands suffering in a personal way. If you find that someday, you are able to share your own story, we would love to post it on the website. Helping others through their difficulty sometimes helps you make sense of your own adversity. You can send an email to us at ryanslionorganization@gmail.com.
When your are ready to pass on your lion…
Each Ryan’s Lion is part of a growing chain of “courage” lions. Each has a unique story. Some recipients consider themselves “survivors” who have passed through a difficult time and moved on with their lives. Others are still suffering and struggling to understand “why.”
Each lion is intended to be passed on to someone else who is in need of courage, but you may not be ready to pass yours on for a very long time, if ever. There is no right way to pass on a lion, just as there is no “right” way to grieve. But if you are able to find someone who needs your lion’s courage worse than you do, and would like to pass him along, simply contact us at ryanslionorganization@gmail.com and we will email you a downloadable copy of a brochure you can include with the lion.
If you can’t bear to part with your lion…
Most Ryan’s Lion recipients agree that passing on the lion is part of the healing process. For most, passing on the lion helps give some “closure” to the traumatic events that brought the Ryan’s Lion to you in the first place. But for others, it is difficult to part with a lion. It may become a tangible reminder of someone you care about. Sometimes, one of our recipients wants to “pass on the courage,” but can’t bear to part with the lion. If this is the case for you, we have a limited number of lions for purchase. As an alternative, you can purchase a lion–any lion, and pass on the courage in a way that is meaningful to you.
